Top Dog Tournament Rules

The preliminary start date for the tourney will be April 15, 2008, players will have 72 hours
to create their games (as per the rules)! That means that all games should be created by
April 18th, and all participants should be in the game playing no later than April 21st!

*Registrations for the Top Dog Tournament are now over*
*All players spots have been filled*

Just a friendly reminder, these are duel (2 player) games, so once both players have entered the game it will roll over (ie... it will not run the full 72 hours on turn zero) so don't go in and look around without laying your base!

1. The metalknights.com server will be used for this tournament.

2. Participants registering for this tournament may register only one alias! Any players that try to register multiple nicknames in an attempt to control more than one player in the tournament will be disqualified!

3. This tournament will be a Single Elimination tournament with a field of 32 players.
The one exception to this will be that the winners of round 4 will go on to play one another in round 5 to determine who gets 1st and 2nd place, and the losers of round 4 will go on to play one another in round 5 to determine who gets 3rd place.

4. The players will be divided by rank on the contestants page. The lower ranking player will be required to create the game and place first with the higher ranking player placing second.
The players ranks will be based on the player’s metalknights.com Hall of Fame score at the time of the completion of the registration period.

5. All games should be created utilizing the following format:
a) Game name should be TD# player1 vs player2 (with the "#" being the round number, and "player1" and "player2" being the players names).
b) Game must be passworded
c) Quick 72
d) Minumum 2 of 2 players
e) Peace treaties disabled, wrecks disabled, and air units limited to the furtif

6. As stated in rule # 3, the lower ranked player will be required to create the games (utilizing the appropriate format as stated in rule # 4), and will be given 72 hours from the start of each round to set up their games, and must send a message to their opponent with the game info immediately!
If the game is not created within the time allotted, or the game info is not immediately sent to your opponent you may be disqualified.
If a player has just cause as to why this rule was not appropriately followed, they may contact the tournament organizer (with-in 5 days) at which time the tournament organizer will contact their opponent and together we may come up with an alternate solution.

7. If a player does not create their game, or join their game before it disappears, that player may be disqualified.
Again, if a player has just cause as to why they did not appear for a game, they may contact the tournament organizer (with-in 5 days) at which time the tournament organizer will contact their opponent and together we may come up with an alternate solution.

8. All games for each round should be completed before the next round begins.
However, the tournament organizer reserves the right to continue the tournament without the completion of all games in the previous round if circumstances warrant such action.

9. Absolutely No Crowding! If you place close enough to hit your opponent hard on turn 1 or 2, you are considered to be crowding. The maps chosen for this tournament should leave no reason to crowd anyone.
If it is determined that you have crowded your opponent, you may be disqualified from the tournament.

10. Absolutely No Locking Out an opponent! If you intentionally lock out your opponent, you will be disqualified!
This tournament should be played following appropriate MK Ettiquette! If you do not know what this means, Click Here and read the MK Ettiquette section!

11. If a player knows he will be unable to make his next turn or a future turn, he can ask his opponent if it is ok to have another player cover for him, and then make sure it is ok with the tournament organizer. If cleared by both your opponent and the tournament organizer then the indicated player can cover the participant's turn.

12. If a player has their opponent on their exclusion list, said opponent must be removed from your exclusion list for the tournament game. If you do not remove a player, that you must play, from your exclusion list, you may be disqualified.

13. The winner of the tournament will receive 50 points and the blue ribbon icon ().
Second place will receive 25 points and the red ribbon icon ().
Third place will receive 10 points and the green ribbon icon ().

If there are any questions regarding the tournament rules, etc... you may contact the tournament organizer via the contact info at the bottom of the page.

Good luck to all!
